Working Together to Help Women in Need
About two months ago, everything changed for everyone … in our community, our state, our nation, and our world. Changes came to True Care as well as we all began dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.
We changed the way we interact with patients to ensure they have close contact with as few True Care staff as possible during their in-Center appointments. Our nurses do telephone appointments with patients first, and they schedule those who need to come to the Center for services. Telehealth has worked well for us,(our no-show rate for in-Center appointments in May was zero!), and we plan to continue this service for our patients as summer comes upon our state.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis this spring, 50 women walked through True Care’s doors; 90 percent of them had a positive pregnancy test. Our staff assessed 58 percent of those women as abortion-vulnerable and 42 percent as abortion-minded or determined. All the women we engaged with had some risk factors to make them consider abortion, whether that was job/income loss, no insurance, bad relationship with the baby’s father, or other challenges.
Because of your support, we met with these women and answered their questions, introduced them to their unborn via ultrasound, and provided them with much-needed resources and encouragement. We also distributed grocery gift cards and diapers. We provided hope at a time when they needed it most.
Our Walk for Life occurred last week. About 50 people showed up, and many others walked before the actual event (since we weren’t sure if we would be able to gather as a large group, we encouraged people to walk before June 6, and many did). Thus far, we have raised nearly 90 percent of our financial goal of $65,000, and we are believing God for the remainder.
Working together, we’re helping women from our community who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Our staff and volunteers may be the ones on the front lines in the battle for life, but we cannot do this work without YOU.
We thank you for standing alongside us, for the extra contributions to bless women with gift cards and items for their babies; for being a sponsored walker (or for sponsoring a walker); for your monthly donations, and for your prayers. Because of you, we have professionally-trained and compassionate nurses. Because of you we have a Resource Coordinator who can provide vital resources and information to women, especially those who may be undecided about their pregnancies because they are unware of the help they can receive. Because of you, our Program Director teaches first time moms how to be the best parents they can be through our Baby & Me Program. Together, we are working to erase the perceived need for abortion in our community by effectively serving pregnant, at-risk women, empowering them to have hope and confidence for their future … and the future of their unborn.
THANK YOU! We appreciate you so much!
Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
