Gratitude and Giving

Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver. – 2 Corinthians 9:7

November is upon us; less than two months from now, 2018 begins. Many people make resolutions for the new year, ranging from weight loss and exercise to being kinder and more generous. The Bible tells us God loves a cheerful giver – even before the new year, we all have opportunity to give in order to help others.

November is known for many observations, especially Thanksgiving. It’s also known as a time that retail businesses bombard us with buy this, buy that, deals here and deals there. Between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, we are encouraged, no, we are commanded by constant advertising, to spend, spend, spend. There is nothing wrong with spending to give gifts to others. And, everyone likes a good bargain.

In addition to material goods during those few days after Thanksgiving, however, there is a special day of giving to non-profits. It happens the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and it’s known as GivingTuesday.

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that began in 2012. It is usually fueled by social media, and encourages donations to non-profits. This special day “has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.” True Care started participating last year and will join in again this year. GivingTuesday is set for November 28.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 on November 28; several donors have agreed to match the day’s contributions to True Care up to $10,000. That means we could raise $20,000 in one day! Every gift to True Care is an investment in the future.  Every gift will encourage and enable women like Acacia and Michelle to resist the pressures to abort and to give life to their unborn.

How Does Your Donation Help?

True Care is supported by donations from individuals, churches, and a few local family foundations. We receive no government funding. Because all our services are offered free of charge to our patients, when you give to True Care you directly impact the lives of the women we serve and their unborn children with the love of Christ.

Your giving allows us to hire and train medical professionals who perform pregnancy testing, limited obstetrical ultrasound, and std testing and treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Your giving provides women answers to three very important questions: (1) Am I really pregnant? (2) If so, how far along am I? and (3) Do I have an std that could affect my future fertility? Your giving also provides these women relevant pregnancy options education and programs like our Baby & Me parenting/adoption courses. Your giving helps us reach our target audience, women considering abortion, through advertising on Facebook, radio, the internet, via billboards, and in high school and Casper College sports bulletins.

If True Care were not here, women in Central Wyoming would have nowhere to go to learn about their pregnancy options – nowhere to discover the confidence and courage they need to carry their little ones to term, and they would not be as prepared to parent or make an adoption plan.

Thanks to our wonderful donors, we are here; because of you and others who contribute to the ministry, more than 70% of the women we see choose life for their unborn – that turns out to be about 200 little lives in our community saved from abortion each year.

We can’t do this work without you! Please consider a gift to True Care on GivingTuesday, November 28. Help us continue to reach this generation of women who see abortion as their best or only option.

As Thanksgiving approaches and we’re all reminded of our blessings, the staff and board of True Care give thanks for you!

I thank my God every time I think of you. – Philippians 1:3
