Change of Heart ... Because of You
When 16-year-old Laura met with her Advocate, she planned to abort.
“I’m too young, and I really don’t want to be a mom – not at this age,” she told the Advocate. “My parents and I have discussed it, and abortion is my best option. I just need to find out how far along I am.”
Change of Heart
Laura’s pregnancy test was positive, and the image of her 12-week-old unborn showed vividly on the ultrasound screen. She seemed enamored with the image, oohing and ahhing at what she, the Nurse, and the Advocate observed: movement and a heartbeat. Laura left undecided and said she would return for a second ultrasound and bring her parents.
The following week, to our dismay, although she returned and brought her parents, the teenager once again seemed determined to abort.
“I’m just too young, and I don’t want to be a deadbeat mom with no education and no job. I don’t want to be a burden to my parents,” she told her Advocate.
Once again during the ultrasound, the image appeared to impact the young woman as well as her parents, who came into the room to learn more about their daughter’s pregnancy. The Advocate noted that the girl’s parents appeared to be excited and asked several questions of the nurse. Ultimately, though, the decision between life and death rested with Laura.
She met with our Resource Coordinator, who shared her own abortion story; that, too, appeared to impact Laura. As the discussion turned to resources the young girl could use, Cheryl, our Resource Coordinator, contacted a potential housing option, and the representative said the organization could take our young patient.
“So, you’d have a place to live for you and your child for a few years, you could finish school, either in person or online, and you could work,” said Cheryl.
“I could? I could do all that?” Laura asked.
When Cheryl affirmed her question, Laura’s heart and mind set a new course.
“Then, I’ll keep the baby. I thought abortion was my best option, but seeing the baby on the ultrasound, hearing your story, and knowing I don’t have to be a deadbeat mom or a burden to my parents, all of that makes a big difference. It won’t be easy, but I think I can do this.”
YOU Make a Difference!
That’s just one change-of-heart story we’ve experienced at True Care during the past few weeks. These experiences couldn’t happen without YOU! YOU make a difference in the lives of women we see at True Care because you support us!
During the past two years, since Planned Parenthood closed its Casper office, True Care has experienced a significant increase in the number of abortion-minded/abortion-determined women coming to the Center – women like Laura. More than 30 percent of these patients have chosen to carry to term. That’s 30 percent more unborn lives saved and 30 percent more women saved from the tragedy of abortion. That would not happen without True Care’s supporters.
Our annual Making a Difference fundraising dessert takes place in less than two weeks. To continue serving women like Laura and their unborn, we need you and others to support our ministry. If you haven’t done so, please RSVP for our upcoming fundraiser, taking place at the Ramkota on Thursday evening, Oct. 11, starting at 7 pm. And, invite people to join you at your table. Introduce them to our life-saving ministry. Share Laura’s story with them. Help them see the value of life and learn how God works through True Care to save women, children, and men from abortion. Contact Terry or Lilly at 472-2810 by Thursday, Oct. 4 to RSVP for the event.
Thank you for helping us help women like Laura – thank you for being a difference-maker, changing hearts and saving lives!
